As a Canadian leader in corporate social responsibility, Enbridge sees education as a key building block for a sustainable community. That's why we have been proud to partner with Historica-Dominion Institute to help make the Canadian Aboriginal Writing Challenge possible.
In the past seven years, Aboriginal youth across the country have been encouraged to submit a short story about a defining moment in Aboriginal history. A winner is chosen in both the 14 to 18 year old category and the 19 to 29 year old category. Each winner is awarded a prize.
In 2011, we inaugurated a visual arts competition that challenged Aboriginal youth to create a piece of two-dimension artwork about a moment in Aboriginal history. In June of 2011, the Canadian Aboriginal Writing and Arts Challenge awarded scholarship prizes to the best submissions in each of two age categories in both the writing and arts components.
Through this writing and arts challenge, the creativity and talent of Aboriginal youth is uncovered and Canadians are educated about the moments that have shaped our country and Aboriginal people.
