Calgary Reads is an early literacy initiative changing the lives of struggling grade 1 and 2 readers and their families in Calgary and area schools.

A fundamental life skill, early literacy results in increased quality of life. Increased reading levels improve an individual’s self-esteem, academic achievement, career and parenting success. Literate children have a greater chance of becoming competent and contributing members of our society who are economically self-sufficient.

Enbridge has been a long standing partner and founding member of Calgary Reads since 1999. Over the past 10 years our funding has allowed Calgary Reads to grow from 3 schools and 40 students to more than 75 schools, and through our partnership, we have ensured a better future for over 4000 children.
