Protecting People & the Environment
Good working relationships between Enbridge and property owners and tenants along the pipeline right-of-way (ROW) are essential to the safety and reliability of our system.
Enbridge is serious about pipeline safety. This responsibility is shared by:
- Enbridge employees, who work year-round to promote safe, reliable operations
- local governments
- community fire, police and ambulance services
- utilities
- contractors
- landowners
- tenants
- neighbours
Preparedness means developing integrated response plans based on expertise, planning and teamwork.
- Enbridge works with local fire, police and ambulance services so they have the information they need should a pipeline emergency occur.
- Regular training exercises in select locations throughout the year keep Enbridge employees' skills fresh, and promote strong and effective coordination with local emergency responders.
- Residents and neighbors along the ROW observe safety precautions and keep in touch to help prevent incidents.
Enbridge has an Emergency Response Program in place that will, as necessary, promptly and effectively shut down the pipeline, dispatch responders and take measures designed to protect the safety of the public, employees and the environment.
From the Ground Up
While our pipelines are buried underground along the ROW, we are always mindful of the potential environmental effects of our operations.
We make every effort to restore the land to its original condition and to protect the quality of the air and water that sustain us. We constantly monitor all of our activities and work to minimize our impact on the earth.
